It’s All About Your Anchor Points

We all spend a lot of time these days lamenting what’s wrong with the current state of affairs. Why that person’s wrong? How this is the wrong direction. It’s almost as if we’ve made a mental flip from our own sources of encouragement to all the rest that drives us crazy. I’ve been thinking about this, and the need to turn it around.
So for a change, I’m focusing on my anchor points. Those things in which I believe. It’s an ever-evolving list as time, circumstances, and a bit of wisdom change things. But if you ask me what I believe in today, here’s what I’d tell you. And I think everyone, for their own well-being, should have the ability to answer that question without much thought.
(You’ll notice there’s considerable mention of therapy here. I require much therapy.)
•Second chances, even third and fourth chances, according to circumstances
•Dirt therapy
•Wood-burning fireplace therapy
•Humility
•Alone time
•Really nice grass – thick Bermuda that’s so green, it’s almost blue
•Stories
•Supporting local artists
•Staying quiet
•Truth
•The education of travel
•Early to rise
•A good chef’s knife, a chopping block, and a go-to frying pan (kitchen therapy)
•Music in the kitchen
•A small circle of friends – the ones who would help you bury the body
•The power of failure
•Ethics
•Picking up the phone and calling a friend
•Tomatoes
•Thinking time on a road trip
•Faith and hope.
•Knowing your gift, passion, calling, and love.
I encourage you. Take a moment today and write down five things you believe in. Those are your anchor points.
